The Executive and Board of Cloverdale Minor Baseball Association are very pleased to announce that we have formally appointed Dave Diachuk to the newly created position of “Director of Coach and Player Development” for CMBA.
The creation of this position and the appointment of Dave Diachuk is the direct result of Cloverdale Minor Baseball’s desire to place a greater emphasis on Player and Coach Development in the future. Dave has been given the mandate to develop and implement a strategy that is consistent in both approach and method, which will equally benefit all of our coaches and players, whatever their level of play or experience.
Dave will be working closely with our Board to design, structure and implement age specific training and instructional criteria for coaches and players, and will be working directly alongside our High Performance Programs in Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget.
As a player, Dave was a member of numerous Provincial Championship Teams, a member of the BC Selects Provincial team and was selected to compete with the National Baseball Institute. As a Junior, Dave was honored to be a 1st team All Conference Selection in College and member of both the Canadian National Junior team and the Canadian National team. He played his senior year in Concordia College in Portland Oregon and once again was selected to the NAIA All Conference Team.
Dave started his coaching career in similar fashion to many of our CMBA coaches, T Ball thru Mosquito in Newton, 9-10’s in Langley Little League, and Pee Wee through Midget in Cloverdale. He was selected to be the Head Coach for the Fraser Valley rep for the BC Games (Gold Medal), and the Canada Games.
In recent years Dave was selected to oversee the inaugural edition of the Langley Jr. Blaze, and has been a guest coach and an instructor for the fall, winter and spring training for the past 7 years in the PBL, a period in which those teams were Provincial Champions (2012 and 2013) Western Canadian Champions (2010) and Canadian Champions in 2013 and 2015. In addition he has coached at the BC Selects Instructional Camps for the past 11 years and participated as a Guest Coach with the Douglas College Baseball Program.
Dave is busy designing an extensive Winter and Spring Program for players and coaches in all Divisions, and these Clinics will be posted very soon on our website. This is an exciting time for Cloverdale Minor Baseball and we hope that all of you will join us in welcoming Dave Diachuk in his new position.
